Even though God intended man to be in His image he destroyed almost
all of mankind in a flood. The description of sinning man is sexually
immoral and violent.
The Earth has recorded this worldwide flood in many scientific
observations. The water rose, there was horrendous landslides and the
waters rescinded leaving layers of coal, oil, and rocks. Over the next
centuries an ice age developed and then receded as the atmosphere and
oceans came to our current state. Through these events many of the large
animals died off as many go extinct today.
Through the flood only 8 human and 2 of every kind (not breed) of
every unclean animal and 7 of every clean animal survived. Noah and his
family were told that a new event was going to happen in the atmosphere
and that this event would be a promise to mankind.
Genesis 9:12-17 "And God said: ‘This is the sign of the covenant
which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with
you, for perpetual generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it
shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall
be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen
in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and
you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again
become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud,
and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God
and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.’ And God
said to Noah, ‘This is the sign of the covenant which I have established
between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.’"
We are blessed in knowing that we don’t have to fear global
catastrophes, climate warming, or floods. God has told us that He will
deliver us from all His punishments on mankind.
The righteous have suffered ridicule and torment over the years.
Israel was enslaved until after the plagues God poured on Egypt. Israel
suffered from the Egyptian taskmasters but was protected from the wrath
of God. Read through Exodus chapters 5-11 and see how God protected them
from His plagues.
When Jerusalem was to be destroyed at God’s decree this was said
first.
Ezekiel 9:4-7 and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the
city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of
the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within
it." To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city
and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. "Utterly slay
old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not
come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So
they began with the elders who were before the temple. Then He said to
them, "Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!"
And they went out and killed in the city.
This is the same example when God acts in the Revelation of Jesus.
Revelation 7:1-3 "After these things I saw four angels standing at
the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that
the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. Then
I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the
living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it
was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, "Do not harm the
earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God
on their foreheads."
However, sinners will perish just as in Noah’s day.
It is sad that sinners have taken the loving sign of the rainbow and
a reminder of God’s judgment and flaunted there sexual immorality before
Him. They will answer for that. The rainbow doesn’t protect us from
judgment but from worrying about another worldwide flood.
It demonstrates that those who seek God with all their heart and are
willing to obey will be saved. They have no need to worry about plagues,
climate changes and the end of the world cosmic events. They only need
to fear God and keep His commandments and the Testimony of Jesus.
