What God expects from you...
and what He has promised to you!
Imagine being a billionaire and looking around you noticed that you
had more wealth then many of the countries of the world combined. It
might lead you to feel a tiny bit guilty or wanting to find an
explanation for it.
Imagine on the other hand that you’ve been busy working your tail off
and yet you remain a financial slave to the company you work for and the
banks. When you compare yourself to others who have had some breaks you
feel like justice is missing. You also may be left pondering a reason to
explain this injustice in the world.
Many people from many various economic, social and religious
backgrounds have done just that. Their answers to the questions of
injustice have been all over the map and some have been outright
discouraged by it all. This series will attempt to explain what God has
promised and to whom. It should be a comfort to everyone who looks to do
good and sees God in His Creation and in His Word.
For Christians of all stripes we have read and understand 2
Corinthians 10:12, "We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with
some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves
and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise."
Obviously when we compare ourselves with others who have more it can
lead to envy, jealousy and lust. It can also lead to depression and
worse, especially when we compare our physical abilities and looks. On
the other hand, if you have been gifted with tremendous physical stature
and looks it can lead to pride and arrogance. All of these responses on
both sides are sin – transgressions of God’s laws. All of those
responses have their own negative consequences in life and are not wise.
In the book of Job it eloquently expresses a search for wisdom so
that we are not foolish.
"Man's hand assaults the flinty rock and lays bare the roots of the
mountains. He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures.
He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.
"But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?
Man does not comprehend its worth; it cannot be found in the land of
the living. The deep says, 'It is not in me'; the sea says, 'It is not
with me.' It cannot be bought with the finest gold, nor can its price be
weighed in silver. It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, with
precious onyx or sapphires. Neither gold nor crystal can compare with
it, nor can it be had for jewels of gold. Coral and jasper are not
worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies. The topaz of
Cush cannot compare with it; it cannot be bought with pure gold.
"Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell?
It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from
the birds of the air. Destruction and Death say, 'Only a rumor of it has
reached our ears.'
God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, for
he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens."
Job 28:9-24
In this series I will explore the futility of mans search for wisdom
to explain who is blessed and who is not and then what the Word of God
clearly states in comparison. I believe if you don’t just believe this
blindly but search the scriptures to see if what is said is in fact
correct – you will find wisdom and know that God has left YOU a blessing
of untold wealth.
In order to set the groundwork for what is coming I would like to set
down the two facts that this series is based upon. The first is that God
created the Heavens and the Earth. Evolution is a bad theory with ZERO,
nil, not one iota of OBSERVABLE OR PROVABLE FACT.
"And God said, Let us <Father and Jesus – His Son> make man in our
image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all
the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth
(this would include ALL animals). So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
Genesis 1:26-27
We didn’t evolve into being. Science proves that life comes from life
not from rock. Science proves the laws that govern our universe – they
didn’t just evolve – observable science actually disproves this
possibility. Either the Universe just poof happened from nothing or God
designed it and He did that for a purpose – to make man in His image.
The second thing is that the Word of God is the Word of God not just
a collection of stories. There is much scientific proof of this in
archeology but from a mathematical perspective it would be worse odds
then 1:in a billion, billion, billion that the prophecies of Jesus as
the Messiah could have come true – even if he was just a great man as
the Jews, Muslims and Anti-Christ John Shelby Sponge followers and just
trying to make these prophecies come true that would be the odds. Not
just improbable but would be considered utterly ridiculous with respect
to any other subject. But this is subject for another series. This
series is based on the Word of God being just that the Word of God.
In the early 1700s England was becoming morally corrupt yet over the
next century they turned it around and became exceedingly great. During
a visit by an Ambassador, Queen Victoria was asked, what is the cause of
Britain’s greatness? She responded by pointing at a Bible on her desk
and saying, "tell your Prince that this book <the Bible> is the secret
of England’s greatness".
Before the American Declaration of Independence was written John
Wycliffe wrote, "The Bible is for the government of the people, by the
people, and for the people."
With that same respect for the Word of God we will examine the Holy
Scriptures for insight on this fascinating subject that will lead you
into a simple and clear understanding of what God expects from you and
what He has promised to you!
