Know your Bible to avoid the Lies that are Presented as Biblical Concepts

Recently the US Speaker of the House knowingly lied in worshipping the creation by saying that the Bible supported this viewpoint by quoting a non-existent bible verse.
Of course you wouldn't be fooled with this supposed act of reverence if you knew your Bible.   You would also know that she wasn't being honest (intentionally lying) in her presentation.

Sometimes this comes in a more subtle manner.   I heard someone attempting to preach a Christian message yesterday that I found extremely annoying because he was not teaching about Jesus but unintentionally mocking Him.   I would like to state that I generally find much agreement with fundamentalist Christians who try to conform their life to the Word of God rather then conform the Word of God to their life.

I found little agreement in this preaching.   The message went like this.  Jesus came to save and not to judge so we shouldn't judge but build our relationships.   Furthermore he stated that Jesus isn't concerned with our performance but our relationship.  What this represents is complete and utter foolishness.

Jesus came to save us from sin -- not to save us so we are free to remain in sin.    "But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!" Galatians 2:17   These comments on not judging, relationships over performance have been twisted to where Christians are told to accept sin, like homosexuality, in their fellowship.  We are told to judge sin with the intention to be merciful to those striving to do righteousness.   We are told to not judge personal decisions that are not sinful, but personal acts of worship. (context of Romans 14 as opposed to 1 Corinthians 5)

Jesus is coming in judgment.   "For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." Romans 14:10
If we are not concerned about our performance, what we do and say and instead wilfully sin we should be fearful to stand before Him.  (Hebrews 10:27)

God has always been concerned with our performance in faithfulness and truth.   This is the same with our own relationships.   If our spouse is not faithful and true then the relationship is lost.   Performance counts - perfection need not be expected.   We are considered children and we are to be respectful, loving and faithful to our Father.

Never let someone proof text outside of the context scripture was given in, to justify sin in yourself or others.

Rather be like Jesus who loved righteousness and hated lawlessness and pursue relationships in that manner.  (Hebrews 1:9)

When you do this, the love of God will truly flow through you even if others hate you for not glorying in their sin.
