We are more powerful,
more tolerant, willing to give money to help others off and yet we have
not won the war on terror. Why?
Some say it is because we have failed to earn the hearts of the
Afganis or Iraqis. They say we haven’t built enough schools, roads,
hospitals and if we do more they will help us. If winning was certainly
based on public opinion our governments have proven time and time again
you spend enough money and people will support you - to a point.
Generally we support those who favour our interests but at times we will
support others over those we like or want to win. They are right though
in that we cant win it with sheer might because insurgencies are based
on combatants being mixed within the general populace and you cant tell
who is a warrior and who is not without the populaces support. Being
kind helps but…
Others say we need to provide more troops for policing. That allows
you to deal with the perpetrators but many of them are suicide bombers
so I don’t think they care if you arrest them or not after they
committed their offence. More police otherwise may make it difficult for
others to congregate to attack and provide some peace which would allow
for time to build schools, roads and hospitals but… If you have to keep
the peace by a show of force do you build trust with the locals to whom
you must ultimately rely upon to expose the terrorists? Does this partly
play into the hands of the leaders who are battling a political war
against you in saying that you want to Christianize their religion,
steal their oil (both ridiculous statements) and bring the poor morals
of naked and loose women to their land?
A third way is proposed that includes using locals for army and
policing so that the local communities are willing to help them. The
idea behind this is that the foreigners are demonstrating that they will
leave and allow you to have your religion, your land. This has been also
fraught with failure in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Sunni, Shite and
Kurds become a part of the army and police to earn a living but they
don’t expose the armies they are also a part of like the Mehdi Army of
Shites or the Talibani army of the Kurds. When called to fight against
their own, they delay, expose the attack or disappear -- usually with
their weapons. These guys know that eventually the US will leave in Iraq
and then they will have to fight the others.
More importantly in Iraq and Afghanistan the locals are terrorized to
support the insurgents or die. In Afghan the heads of many suspected
informers where displayed around the villages to demonstrate what will
happen to those who cooperate with the Canadian soldiers. The locals
continue to supply little information about insurgents moving freely
among them as if locals. Those in the army or police who do act against
there own clan or religious army in Iraq often have their family members
killed.
In this environment, trying to win public support by some good deeds
to win the battle against the insurgents is and has been fruitless
because if I have to choose between a school in my community or the
safety of my life, my wife and my children what would I do? How much
would I say especially when I know the sectarian power is leaving?
Britain failed in Afghanistan many years ago because it refused to
make it a colony. There is a difference when you colonize. Especially
when you colonize with a religion or form of justice in mind. When
people know that you are the one they must appease or be destroyed ,
refused food, health care and the like they succumb to the power.
Britain used this to some degree. So did the Ottoman Empire and the
Roman Empire. These Empires ruled vast numbers of people with relatively
few soldiers. How? Anyone that fought against the power was destroyed.
Should the townsfolk or city folk not surrender the guilty insurgents
the leaders and sometimes the whole town or city was destroyed and made
a display for others. People soon learned to cooperate with them.
We have no political will to force cooperation with similar force in
Afghanistan or Iraq and since they have all the moral leadership and the
brute force that requires obedience we are in for a very difficult road.
If we had gone in the name of the God the settlers of the US and
Canada trusted in we may have conquered but our God these days is just a
convenient bumper sticker, a family tradition or party festivals.
Part of the battle against terrorism is to cut off their financial
funding. This has been an abysmal failure. Why? Because of the greed of
the people. In order to cut off the real funding for terrorism we would
have to stop our reliance on OPEC oil in the Western World. This would
require a major change in the way we live and lets face it the people
wouldn’t put up with that.
In Canada we are lucky enough to be fuel sufficient and an exporter
country, in fact we are the biggest supplier to the US of crude oil and
natural gas. Although many in our country under the guise of reducing
global warming would like to send cash over to other nations as Kyoto
credits that would likely find their way into arming our enemies.
So a large part in the failure in the war is:
- Our own greed and covetousness (including Al Gore’s)
- Our refusal to proudly proclaim the Commandments of God as
foundational justice principles, and
- Our refusal to unashamedly proclaim the name of Jesus as King of
Kings
Why is any of this important to you or I?
I was sitting on the plane thinking about all the different positions
put forward on Iraq and what the context of the people are in Iraq when
it dawned on me that we are facing the exact same insurgency here in
Canada and the US and are losing.
Our enemies, those who hate traditional biblical morality and the
real testimony of Jesus that He is also a punisher for those who refuse
to obey, have been fighting to win the minds of the townsfolk to attack
everything that is truly Christian. They have infiltrated the schools,
the courts, the human rights tribunals and the political arenas. Less
then 1% of the population then forced or destroyed the opposition in one
field at a time until laws were enacted that prohibited anyone from
opposing them (ie stating that homosexuality is an abomination and
unnatural sickness is a hate crime). Conservative values are now
sometimes mocked and outlawed in our public places.
Anyone or group that opposes them is beaten into submission and
attacked viciously until they submit and isolate the offenders. Hence no
one opposes homosexuality as a political party position even though 50%
of the population still opposes it. They will try to win the support of
various minorities but they will not stand up for those they support for
fear of reprisals.
Is that much different then Iraqies who wish to support a better ,
free Iraq but fear to stand up for that because of reprisals. Religious
leaders, one by one are systematically being neutralized on tv, in
editorials and in their churches. Some with losses of jobs, others are
told if they don’t stop publicly there church will targeted for a civil
law suit and they become quiet.
Those who have been beaten are occasionally paraded before the people
so they are reminded not to oppose the liberal war machine. Each year
another hurdle is passed and we slowly move forward to a world where you
cant get any government assistance with your money unless you bow down
and accept the god of humanism.
(The above 4 paragraphs reflect on Canada but the US liberals are
also attempting to claim anti-homosexual comments as hate literature
which would eventually cause the same situation to occur in the US)
What does God look for at times like these?
"So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in
the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it;
but I found no one." Ezekiel 22:30
We are told to fight is not Christian and we must stand there and let
Christ be made a mockery of. How does one stand in the gap when the
media and public voice is taken away from you. Reports of speeches in
politics are violently taken out of context and you are condemned
without anyone really having the opportunity to listen.
Yet worse is to happen:
‘He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that
the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not
worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small
and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their
right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except
one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his
name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number
of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.Rev
13:15-18
Some say this is what happened in history, yet much of biblical
history also occurred to represent what will happen through Christ the
negative patterns will happen again and Christ will crush the beast and
the people that worshipped humanism 666.
When God acted in the past he said this, "Turn at my rebuke; Surely I
will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.
Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and
no one regarded, Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have
none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when
your terror comes, When your terror comes like a storm, And your
destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon
you. "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek
me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the LORD, They would have none of my
counsel And despised my every rebuke.
Proverbs 1:23-30
In that environment God says I will speak, I will send my prophets
and witnesses and you His children will listen IF you are not overcome
or beaten down but continue personally in your faith like Daniel and are
able to stand with the Lions and in the fiery furnace not because you
have incited a riot but because you quietly, yet strongly kept your
faith despite the attacks against you.
But if you refuse until you see your destruction coming then God will
not hear you.
What about if you have not yet developed a relationship with God?
James writes, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." James
4:8
Jesus said, "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all
peoples to Myself." Matthew 12:32
Proverbs 8:17 " I love those who love me, And those who seek me
diligently will find me."
If you want a relationship with God then what you have to do is hold
on to that promise and pursue Him with all your heart and love your
fellow man which is the heart of the law. Realize that no one can come
to the Father unless He draws you which means you cant do this or that
to earn favour with God rather you must acknowledge that you are worthy
of death and accept the sacrifice of Jesus for you. Then commit to being
His disciple - not because you earn something but to have a living faith
in God that He is and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Jesus is described as loving righteousness and hating lawlessness
(sin). Go and do likewise teaching yourself, building the unity with
others of like mind and seeking to be a blessing to others.
